French Numbers

Practice French Prices in Euros

Focused iPhone listening practice for understanding spoken prices in euros in daily French life.

One of the first real-world language problems we ran into after moving to France was understanding prices.

At markets, bakeries, small shops, and local stores, prices are often spoken quickly instead of clearly displayed. Even learners who understand written French well can struggle when hearing numbers naturally in conversation.

French Numbers includes a dedicated practice mode for money and prices because that skill deserves focused repetition on its own.

The app reads realistic prices aloud in French while users practice recognizing and understanding them quickly. The goal is not memorization. It is building confidence through repeated listening.

French numbers become especially challenging once larger values and faster speech are involved. Prices combine both. Hearing “quatre-vingt-dix-neuf euros” naturally in conversation feels very different from reading it slowly in a textbook.

The app also supports multiple French dialects and adjustable speaking speeds so learners can gradually increase difficulty over time.

I built French Numbers because I wanted a simpler way to practice the parts of French that create friction in everyday life. Prices were one of the clearest examples.

French Numbers is iPhone-only for now and includes focused modes for prices, numbers, phone numbers, and time, with light progress stats for regular practice. Learn more about French Numbers.
