Privacy Policy

In short: Stops does not collect any data. Everything you save stays on your devices and in your own private iCloud account. We have no servers, no analytics and no ads.

What Stops stores

Stops stores the stops, lists, notes, visits and trips you create. This data lives on your device and, if iCloud is turned on, syncs between your devices through your private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. Edliss LLC cannot see or access it.

Location

Stops uses your location to show how far away your stops are, to save a stop where you are, and to show your nearest stop in widgets and on Apple Watch.

If you turn on Timeline or arrival reminders, Stops also uses your location in the background to note the places you spend time at and to notice when you’re near a saved stop. Timeline uses the system’s visit detection, not continuous tracking. Both are off until you switch them on, and you can turn them off at any time in the Journal tab or in the Settings app.

Your location history is stored only on your devices and in your private iCloud. It is never sent to us or anyone else.

Photos

If you turn on Photos Taken Here or import past visits from your photos, Stops reads the location and date of photos in your library to match them to places. Photos are only read. They are never copied, uploaded or stored by Stops.

If you import past visits from a Google Maps Timeline export, the file is read on your device and only each place and its times are kept. Nothing is sent anywhere.

If you choose to save an image, such as a trip’s map, Stops asks for permission to add it to your photo library.

Shared lists

When you share a list, the stops in that list are shared through iCloud with the people you invite. You choose who can see it, and you can stop sharing at any time.

Apple services

Stops uses Apple Maps for maps, search and directions, and Apple Weather for the weather on your visits and the forecast at your stops. Requests to these services are handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. Stops does not send them your name or account. Apple Intelligence features run entirely on your device.

Stops Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; Stops never sees your payment details.

What we don’t do

Deleting your data

Delete stops, lists and visits in the app, or delete the app to remove everything stored on that device. To remove synced data, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage, and delete the data for Stops.

Children

Stops does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
